The Roseville Adult Learning Center has a vacancy for an Adult Basic Education teacher for our Certified Nursing Assistant pathway program. We are seeking an instructor with a background in adult education and healthcare to lead contextualized adult career pathways classes for KOM’s Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Healthcare Careers Exploration (HCCE) trainings.  Training schedules may vary depending on needs of students recruited and may be hosted in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings.  These two training programs are targeted at serving Southeast Asian immigrant and refugee populations. Candidates from the Southeast Asian community or with a shared background are highly encouraged to apply.  
 
Primary Responsibilities: The instructor will be responsible for planning and leading lessons that prepare students for the CNA certification exam and/or help students understand the broad range of healthcare careers available to them and requirements to enter those fields.  The instructor will work closely with KOM’s Career Development Counselor to communicate student needs, barriers, and progress so that the CDC can provide effective interventions and wraparound services to students one-on-one outside of the classroom.  The instructor will be responsible for recording student attendance in a timely manner and ensuring TABE/CASAS testing is conducted to track EL level gains.

Schedule:

Schedule varies based upon grant timelines, and student schedules. Classes may take place in the mornings, afternoons or evenings. The daily time is about 4.25 hours (about 25 hours a week).

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working in the healthcare field
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or education relating to adult English Language Learners or adult basic education
  • Flexible schedule
  • Experience with DEED-funded adult career pathways programs
  • Knowledgeable about credentialing requirements for Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Knowledgeable about in-demand healthcare careers and entry requirements
  • Experience with OnTrack and BLS online platforms

Experience working with ESL populations and college prep preferred.

Compensation:

Salary as per ABE teacher’s contract.
