Adult Basic Ed Teacher
Full-Time  12 months/219 days/8 hrs a day
Hours:  Monday thru Friday days; Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Schedule:  Monday-Thursday mornings (16 hours/week) onsite GED instruction at the Anoka County Jail AND 24 hours/week working online with GED prep and Adult Diploma learners. 

Locations:  Adult Education Center-Anoka County Jail and the Blaine Learning Lab

Duties:  Work with adult students who are preparing for the GED examination, completing high school competencies, brushing up on their basic skills, and/or preparing to enter post-secondary training or employment. Other duties include ongoing assessment, student record keeping. Facilitate both independent and group student learning, providing distance learning options, and integrate technology into learning. Other duties as assigned.  (Training offered focusing on working in a correctional facility.)

Minimum Qualifications:  Current MN Teaching License, or ABE license. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience teaching within an adult basic education program and/or within a correctional facility preferred, Experience working with adult ESL learners specifically, and working with diverse populations, preferred.  Training and experience in cooperative learning and curriculum development preferred.  Computer experience and comfort with MS Office (Word, Excel), Internet, email, and Google apps preferred.

Rate of pay: $28.65/hour.
