Adult Basic Ed Teacher
Full-Time 12 months/219 days/8 hrs a day
Monday thru Friday days and Tuesday and Thursday evenings

Location:  Blaine Learning Lab, Anoka County Human Services Center, 1201 89th Avenue NE, Suite 335, Blaine, MN

Duties:  Provide direct individual and group instruction to various levels adults learning English as a Second Language.  Address the needs of adult learners in basic reading skills, speaking, and numeracy, and assist with improving basic skills, developing workplace skills, and gaining computer and study skills.
Duties include assist with student assessment, return student phone calls, monitor student attendance, complete necessary student record keeping, and provide support for on-site literacy assistants and volunteers as requested. Use cooperative teaching strategies during instruction and integrating technology into learning. Other duties as assigned. *All classes are instructed virtually until further notice.

Minimum Qualifications:  Current MN Teaching License or Masters degree in ESL, applied linguistics, or bilingual education; strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Computer skills required. Experience using cooperative teaching strategies during instruction and integrating technology into learning.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working with diverse populations preferred.  ABE teaching experience/training, and proven ability to work collaboratively with adult learners in an ABE program preferred. Experience using cooperative teaching strategies during instruction and integrating technology into learning preferred. Computer experience with Google Education Suite and adult educational software preferred.

Rate of pay: $29.69/hour.
