The AVID Elective teacher will teach an AVID class, monitor AVID student progress in all classes, communicate with parents about AVID students’ entire school experience, lead an AVID Homebase, be an active member of the AVID Site Team, help to provide professional learning regarding AVID methodologies for other staff members, supervise tutors for the AVID Elective class, assist the Site Team with Certification and data collection, and attend AVID Summer Institute and other related training.

Minimum requirements include the following:  Minnesota teacher license; willingness to spread AVID instructional strategies school-wide and become a resource for the site’s college-going culture; three or more years of teaching experience in the Hopkins Public Schools; collaborative workplace experience; expertise in a college preparatory subject area; effective classroom management style and organizational skills; willingness to provide social and academic support to students; ability to multi-task; strong communication skills; strong relationship building skills with students, staff and families; creative problem-solver.
