The Shakopee School District is currently seeking a Behavior Support Specialist for the 2022-2023 school year. 8 hours/day on student days. Pay rate $24/hr.
Candidates who obtain a short call sub license will receive an additional $1/hr.
Job Summary:
Work with students, under the direction of certified staff, to manage behavior through interventions, positive behavior supports, and strategies as outlined in the IEP if applicable.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience/Skills
- Working in a diverse community
- Working in a school setting
- Conflict resolution strategies and a variety of discipline strategies
- Working with children in difficult and sensitive situations
- Ability to work with children of various ability levels with a working knowledge of disabilities
- Ability to meet the needs of culturally diverse learners
- Knowledge of classroom instructional interventions and behavioral management techniques
- CPI trained preferred
- NVCI preferred
- Bully Prevention trained preferred
- Ability to keep information about students and families confidential
Working Conditions:
Classroom, office, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting, keyboarding, etc.
Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
