Assistant Dance Coach

All coaches at Rockford Area Schools are responsible for providing leadership, guidance and instruction to student athletes within their program. The coach reports to, and works closely with, the Activities Director along with other coaches to determine goals and direction of the program. The coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of every student athlete participating on their team.

The Assistant Dance Coach has the following responsibilities:

  • Experience and/or knowledge of Dance is required. Previous high school coaching experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the commitment to develop and maintain positive relationships between the program and the local community.

  • Collaborate with the head coach to organize practice plans. Helps to assess dancer’s skills and assigns team positions. 

  • Attend all Dance program activities including practices and games, team meetings, and off-season conditioning.

  • Observe dancers during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.

  • Coach and instruct dancers, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. 

  • Proven experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior.

  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision of dancers at all times.

  • Follow MSHSL regulations governing the athletic program.

  • Participate in special activities such as parent’s night, senior night, end of season banquet, etc.

  • Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach and activities director.

This position will start on October 22, 2024 and run through mid/late February, 2025.
