The Special Education Teacher is responsible for creating a program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction (grades 6 – 8) for students with unique needs, such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible.
Special education case management includes preparation of IEP’s, reports, assessment, and leading IEP team meetings.
Professionalism, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach are essential when working with students receiving special education services to ensure their safety and growth and to help them understand and exhibit appropriate behaviors at school and in the community.
Special Education licensure through MDE required. Any special education licensure encouraged to apply, however strong consideration will be given to those with EBD or ABS licensure.
