Hours:  6 hours/day; 5 days/week
General Purpose of Job:  Assist Instructional Assistant, principal, staff to ensure a safe, respectful learning environmen for all students at Garden City. Assist with the implementation of school wide social-emotional/behavior program (PBIS) to increase student success at school. These tasks will constitute the major portion of the Educational Support Professional time.  

  • Assisting with students that need additional support with behavior and/or academics interventions in individual or small group settings.
  • Assisting Instructional Asssitant with required behavior interventions, supports, and data collection (SWIS, Calming Room, Behavior Charts, etc.). This may include maintaining appropriate student data on behavior assessments.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and supports to the Calming Room
  • Implement Restorative Practices at Garden City:
    • Lead or Co-Lead Restorative Chats with students
  • In consultation with the Instructional Assistant and/or Principal, contact families regarding student behavior
  • Keeping all student information strictly confidential;
  • Participating in required training;
  • Securing supplies needed for social emotional and behavior supports/interventions 
  • Assist students and teachers in large group activities/projects such as field trips, morning meeting,circle time, classroom support, etc. 
  • Provide recess and lunch coverage (back up only)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by principal or designee.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with students.
  • Computer and word processing experience helpful.
