Description

Community of Peace Academy is an urban public charter school located on the East Side of Saint Paul, Minnesota serving approximately 850 students in grades PreK to 12. 2024-2025 is our 30th anniversary school year. Community of Peace Academy fosters academic excellence and character development through the education of the whole person – mind, body and will. Driven by peace, relationships and academic excellence, CPA strives to create an educated, empowered and ethical community, at school and within the broader society.

We are seeking a Math Teacher to join our High School team. In addition to teaching core Math classes, this teacher will teach one elective class per semester, and will serve as the Advisory/Ethics Teacher for a cohort of students to support our mission of educating the whole child.

The qualified applicant will hold a Minnesota Teaching license in Mathematics, have a strong understanding of the Minnesota Academic Standards in Math, possess the ability to develop rapport with learners of diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate an unyielding commitment to helping all students attain high academic and ethical standards of performance.

We place great emphasis upon building community and encouraging character development through positive relationships. Home Visits have been a key component of the CPA tradition for over 20 years. Each fall, Teachers visit the homes of their students after school, usually in pairs or teams of three.

In addition, Developmental Designs is implemented across grades 5-12. All of our teachers are required to be trained in DD1. Training opportunities are available for new staff in the summer months and during the school year, and internal coaching and support is provided in implementing DD practices. In addition, all teachers are supported in their professional growth through weekly PLCs, structured common planning, and frequent observation and coaching. All new teachers are also supported by a Mentor.
