East Grand Forks ISD 595 is currently accepting applications for a licensed School Social Worker.
East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district’s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1900 students and there are four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.
The preferred candidate will be expected to: provide educational and personal mental health intervention to students; consult with staff regarding student issues; support parents in helping their child experience school success; prepare/inspire all students with the confidence, competence and courage to achieve their dreams, contribute to the community and engage in a lifetime of learning; provide services in a collaborative nature for students of various grade levels; specifically to provide services to meet the needs of his/her assigned caseload; consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their educational and social development.
The preferred candidate will be expected to participate in staff team meetings to include grade-level team meetings, student assistance team and parent meetings regarding school challenges; coordinate and implement activities that facilitate transition between levels and grades by providing resources that are both individually and group focused that help students develop and apply interpersonal and group behavior skills and performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as required. The candidate should be comfortable with the delivery of services at all levels. The school social worker will provide prevention, intervention and crisis response as needed. The school social worker will be required to engage in community collaboration, interdisciplinary team problem solving, school improvement planning at all three tiers of the MTSS process. The social worker will lead as part of the school team the implementation of social and emotional learning for all students. The school social worker will also engage as a team member of the district mental health team. Strong skills in the area of collaboration and teamwork required.
The preferred candidate must possess good written and oral communication skills; possess strong planning and organizational skills; possess skills and knowledge related to group and individual interventions and referral resources; possess knowledge and use of curriculum planning and instructional skills as well as possess a tolerance for ambiguity and change.
Qualifications: MN Board of Social Work License-MDE School Social Work License
