Paraeducator Health
Full Time  183 days/7 hrs/day

Health paras assist nursing staff with the administration of school health care.

Duties:  Delivering care for students with illness or injury.  Administer medication; charting/maintain health records of students.  Vision and hearing screening.  Counsel students in good health habits.  Assist in care of special need students in a fast-paced setting.  Perform other duties as assigned in school health program in cooperation with the nurse and administration.

Minimum Qualifications:  Experienced in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).  Must have completed or be currently enrolled in the Adult, Child and Infant CPR and AED (Automatic External Defibrillators) course.  (Must provide current CPR/AED certifications (or proof of enrollment in an upcoming CPR/AED course) upon hire.)  Good written and verbal communications skills, and interpersonal skills.  Ability/desire to work with special needs students and cooperatively with students and staff.  Ability/desire to work with technology.  Good recordkeeping skills / computer skills.  Ability to remain calm in stressful emergency situations.      Ability to take direction.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.  Must be physically working in the building.

Preferred Qualifications:  Current MN Licensed Practical Nurse License (LPN) or Registered Nurse License (RN) preferred.

Rate of Pay: $20.50/hour, or up DOQ; $24.00/hour, for RN/LPN
