This position will work 5-6 days per week for 35-40 weekly hours.
Due to the nature of the job, the work schedule will include many Saturdays. Schedule will vary depending on program need.
Minimum starting wage is $18.86.

Primary Objective of the Position:

  1. To provide practical grass roots and administrative support to the Executive Director of Minnetonka Community Education and his Administrative Office Assistant for Firecracker Run, Mud Run, Tour de Tonka events, Fall de Tonka, Youth Triathalon, and Tonka Trail Trot.
  2. To provide program support to the Youth Programs Basketball leagues.
  3. To provide program support for Youth Programs for events and programming, most occur on evenings and weekends.
  4. To work during the school year in Explorers providing child care for elementary age students and working with their families.

Job Responsiblities:
1. Event assistance

  • Tonka Mud Run, Youth Triathlon, Firecracker Run, Tour de Tonka Fall de Tonka and Tonka Trail Trot.
  • Be available on several Saturdays during the spring,summer and fall when these programs need assistance.
  • Volunteer recruitment, meeting attendance, supply quotes, set-ups, take downs and any other work as directed by program leadership.

2. Youth Basketball Assistance

  • Coaches communication
  • Gym Supervisor
  • Maintain websites for all leagues
  • Assist with team formation, player evaluation, coach recruitment, game and practice schedules, apparel orders and tournament planning.

3. Program Supervision

  • Fifth Grade Finales
  • East Meets West
  • Holiday Family Giving and Dodgeball Tournament 
  • Rake-A-Thon
  • Ice Fishing Tournament

4. Explorers Support

  • 9 months, up to 10 hours per week

Job Qualifications:

  1. B.A. or B.S. in recreation, youth development, or a related degree
  2. Evidence of successful experience in program planning and leadership.
  3. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  4. Evidence of strong computer skills and experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  5. Evidence of excellent organizational and record keeping skills; ability to multi-task; ability to work independently and to plan and prioritize work responsibilities; and show attention to detail.
  6. Excellent communication, problem solving, human relations and customer service skills.
  7. Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment.
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  9. Have a pleasant phone manner, helpful demeanor, and positive, friendly attitude.
  10. A willingness to gain experience in event planning, recreation and an office setting.

Physical requirements:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
