Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
Teaching Secondary Social Studies and the application of literacy strategies, preferable at the Senior High School level, is required. Candidate must be a strong team player with an enthusiasm for teaching High School aged students. Successful candidate will have a good understanding of Professional Learning Communities, an understanding of interdisciplinary planning and teaching, and a knowledge of how technology can enhance instruction. A strong interest and desire to work with students of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds and academic ability levels is desired.
We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students. Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and current Minnesota State Licensure in Secondary Social Studies Education. Additional demonstrated qualifications include: commitment to the equitable education of all students; creative planning and organizational skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills. Previous experience working with secondary level students using differentiation, guided reading, and technology skills preferred. Prefer candidate with experience working with diverse learners.
Current Minnesota Secondary Social Studies license or eligibility is required.
