The Special Education Paraprofessional-Behavior Intervention serves in a modified paraprofessional capacity to provide intervention for students with significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs. Primary duties include implementing individual behavior plans, working in collaboration with the special education teacher to provide support to the specialized instruction, skill instruction and behavioral data collection.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and moderate experience working with children. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
Read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Present Information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and or staff.
Mobility and ability to lift and/or assist individuals who weigh up to 50 pounds. Work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking and stopping, kneeling, bending, crouching or crawling and occasionally requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Other Skills & Abilities:
Provide a variety of suggestions for working with students in the special education setting. Maintain flexibility in day to day dealing with staff and students. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a tight daily schedule and with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
