The Special Education Paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher with performing duties necessary to meet the educational, personal, physical, and behavioral needs of an individual or group of special education students. The Special Education Paraprofessional’s primary focus in on directly serving students or in preparation for meeting the student’s needs.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and moderate experience working with children. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Provide a variety of suggestions for working with students in the classroom setting. Maintain flexibility in day to day dealing with staff and students. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a tight daily schedule and with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Consistent and reliable attendance is required. A learner mindset and focus on equity and inclusion are required.
