JOB DESCRIPTION
Breckenridge Public School District is currently seeking a dynamic and personable individual to fill a 1 FTE LD/EBD Special Education teaching position starting for the 2024-2025 school year.  Duties include teaching students on designated case load, evaluation of students related to special education criteria, managing student Individualized Education Plans (IEP), supporting students skill acquisition and making modifications/accommodations. We are looking for a Special Education Teacher to team-teach in grades 7-12 at the high school building. We implement project based learning, problem based learning and active classroom strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a Minnesota special education teaching license, preferably EBD and/or LD including ASD experience
  • Solid classroom and behavioral management skills based on current research practices
  • Willingness to team teach in the classroom
  • Great communicator and relationship builder with families, students and staff
  • Great teammate and willing to work in a team approach
  • Willingness to work with students with unique backgrounds and skills
  • Willingness to be involved in other aspects of the Breckenridge Public School’s culture and community
  • Knowledgeable computer user
  • Team Player and team-oriented thinker

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach and support SPED students; collaborate with classroom teachers; plan a program of study; manage IEP’s
  • Understanding of the role of SPED teacher working with general education teachers
  • Participate fully in all staff development, professional learning communities and staff collaboration such as in-service, staff meetings, committee work, parent conference nights, etc.
  • Communicates effectively with teacher(s) or other staff as assigned for the purpose of promoting continuous improvement of individual student goals
  • Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
  • Supervise, train, and guide paraprofessionals of students on their caseload as needed to meet the individualized student needs

EXTRA-CURRICULAR DUTIES:
Extra-curricular opportunities may be available. Head coaching positions and Co-curricular advisor positions are open.
 
SUPERVISION:
The teacher reports to the building principal

COMPENSATION:
Teachers are compensated according to the current master agreement which is located on the School District website under District Office> Employment Opportunities> Master Agreements.
