Discover 'DIFFERENT' with Discovery Charter School (DCS). DCS is a Minnesota-based school focused on providing a rigorous, STEM-focused education for grades K-8.
DCS is seeking candidates for a 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Licensure Areas Considered: SLD, EBD, ASD, or ABS
Dual Licensure is preferred. Tier 1 and Tier 2 licenses may be considered.
Job Expectations:

Employ high expectations for students using a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.

Understand and implement learning interventions to meet the varying learning styles and needs of a diverse student population.

Develop and demonstrate culturally responsive practices that lead to equitable outcomes for all students.

Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure high levels of achievement.

Demonstrate proactive responses to support students with emotional or behavior regulation difficulties.

Collaborate with others to plan, teach and support students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

Ability to direct the work of paraprofessionals and an understanding of practices for training and supporting paraprofessionals.

Facilitate effective IEP team meetings with parents and other professionals.

Plan and complete comprehensive special education evaluations, including Functional Behavior Assessment.

Write and implement IEPs and Behavior Support Plans that include measurable goals and appropriate accommodations.

Demonstrate leadership and effective communication when problem solving students' needs.

Proficient in meeting deadlines and managing daily record keeping and other due-process related tasks.

Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping

Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed.

Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families.
