Discover 'DIFFERENT' with Discovery Charter School (DCS). DCS is a Minnesota-based school focused on providing a rigorous, STEM-focused education for grades K-8.

 

DCS is seeking candidates for a 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Licensure Areas Considered: SLD, EBD, ASD, or ABS 

Dual Licensure is preferred. Tier 1 and Tier 2 licenses may be considered.

 

Job Expectations:

  • Employ high expectations for students using a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.

  • Understand and implement learning interventions to meet the varying learning styles and needs of a diverse student population.

  • Develop and demonstrate culturally responsive practices that lead to equitable outcomes for all students.

  • Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure high levels of achievement.

  • Demonstrate proactive responses to support students with emotional or behavior regulation difficulties.

  • Collaborate with others to plan, teach and support students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

  • Ability to direct the work of paraprofessionals and an understanding of practices for training and supporting paraprofessionals.

  • Facilitate effective IEP team meetings with parents and other professionals.

  • Plan and complete comprehensive special education evaluations, including Functional Behavior Assessment.

  • Write and implement IEPs and Behavior Support Plans that include measurable goals and appropriate accommodations.

  • Demonstrate leadership and effective communication when problem solving students' needs.

  • Proficient in meeting deadlines and managing daily record keeping and other due-process related tasks.

  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping 

  • Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed. 

  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. 

  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families.
