Description

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of SAC/Youth Programs Student Worker at the elementary buildings.  This position is 3.25 hours per day on school days; up to 5.5 hours on non-school days.  Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour; Independent-Student Support Group.

Job Summary
 
Participate in activities with children attending School Aged Care (SAC) Program or other Youth Programs.
 
Job Functions

  • Engage with children during activities, small group, snack, indoor/outdoor play and on field trips.
  • Assist with supervising children during indoor/outdoor play and on field trips.
  • Work in small groups to assist children with daily activities.
  • Assist in maintaining supervision, order, discipline and a safe and secure environment for children at all times.
  • Assist with activities for the program.
  • Assist in providing a stimulating experience to help the child grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, and creatively, according to his/her individual needs and his/her own ability.
  • Attend in-services, workshops, orientations, and staff meetings as required.
  • Maintain a positive, concerned, and accepting attitude toward children and their families.
  • Conduct self in a manner that reflects favorably on the program and school district.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, children, and program staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding children, families, staff and program information.
  • Adhere to program guidelines and district policies
  • Assist with emergency care of injured or ill children according to program procedures and district policy.
  • Assist with adaptation to allow the student to function in program setting
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Education Director.

  • Experience working with school-age children preferred.
  • Enjoys interacting with children
  • Ability to work after school
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Good communication skills
  • CPR Trained or the ability to be trained
  • Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, internet navigation and Microsoft Word
  • Demonstrated prompt, regular and reliable attendance 

 Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Vision abilities required include close vision.
