Salary/Hourly Rate: Paraprofessional Class VI: $17.20/hr or above based on experience
Hours of Work: 6.5 hrs/day; student contact days
Description:The Learning Center/XL paraprofessional will work with students who have educational goals and accommodations related to the development of student skills (organization, prioritizing, work completion, engagement.) The paraprofessional will facilitate/lead a classroom environment (up to ten students) and work collaboratively with a team of teachers who will also be working with the students during an academic strategies block. The paraprofessional will be responsible for tracking data related to students progress towards demonstrating specific skills, as well as providing instructional reinforcement to ensure students apply the desired skills. This will include checking in with students to support their independence in navigating the student information system to identify school work needing to be completed. The paraprofessional will be responsible for promoting student engagement and providing academic support to students across multiple curriculum areas.
Qualifications:Demonstrated effectiveness in working with students of diverse racial, economic, and linguistic backgrounds. Excellent human relations skills and the ability to establish and maintain relationships with students and educational staff. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: child/adolescent development and behavior; cultural responsiveness; behavior management techniques; multidisciplinary teaming; group facilitation; consultation.
Two years experience providing academic and social/emotional/behavior student support services in a diverse educational setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
