Position Description:
Assist the district with general day-to-day operation and technology service related to facility technology, security, fire safety,  telecommunications and other electronic district needs. 
 The Master Electrician plans electrical system additions or modifications for all district facility needs in the Wayzata School  District. This position installs, troubleshoots and repairs power, lighting, and low and high voltage systems, as well as building HVAC automation and performs maintenance  on electrical components according to the National Electrical and Fire  codes. 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Troubleshoot and repair district facility life safety automation technology/electrical equipment.
  • Plans and implements electrical primary and secondary (high and low voltage) system additions and modifications.
  • Plans and responds to electrical system requests within the school district.
  • Supervises the work of the Unlicensed Maintenance Electrician licensed employees to include monitoring and approving electrical tasks. 
  • Maintain, manage and respond in emergency situations  to the district facility technology/electrical infrastructure needs
  • Maintain district facilities closed-circuit video system.
  • Maintaining the district’s two-way radio communications equipment.
  • Monitors performance of installed electrical equipment and appliances. Monitors for hazards and makes adjustments/replacements as necessary.
  • Maintains a variety of records and reports detailing maintenance and repair activities.
  • Responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining the fire safety systems, building bells, video system, clocks, building automation systems, security systems, public address and related systems. 
  • Collaborates and is responsible for working with the Activities Department in regards to the scoreboard, lighting,
  •  and outside video vendors. 
  • In collaboration with the Director of Buildings and Grounds, coordinates electrical projects involving outside contractors. Inspects contracted work projects to ensure work is completed within timelines and meets National  Electrical Code and fire code requirements. 
  •  Interprets, tests, and maintains electrical circuits and equipment, including the use of system blueprints, schematics and
  •  drawings and insurance of inspections. 
  • Plans, troubleshoots, and repairs building HVAC automation control systems. Responds to emergencies when
  •  necessary. 
  • Works with the technology department to ensure the district’s telecommunication infrastructure is in operation and
  •  responds to any emergency situations. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
