About Zumbro Education District: ZED is an education district serving six member districts that include Triton, Kasson-Mantorville, Stewartville, Byron, Hayfield, and Blooming Prairie. ZED offers a wide array of general education and special education services to our member districts (please refer to www.zumbroed.org for details). The ALC serves at-risk students in grades 6-12 with unique programming. ZED has been in existence for over 30 years and is located in Kasson (MN) which is 15 miles away from the city of Rochester (MN). ZED opened a newly constructed building for all programs in Kasson starting in the 2022-23 school year.
Position Summary: Serves students identified as at-risk and qualifying under the Graduation Incentives Program in grades 6-12; serves as an integral part of the educational team by providing information, guidance and support to students, families and staff in the areas of: academics, social-emotional, mental and chemical health; establishes and delivers individual and group counseling; develops and delivers information, content and support in academic achievement, SEL, restorative practices, post-secondary/CTE options; assists Principal in creation of master schedule and school programming including student registration processes and procedures; participates in intake process/school tours for incoming students; coordinates and supports 504 plans and implementation; provides assistance in school-wide discipline; makes referrals to and collaborates with community partners and support programs; communicates effectively and regularly with stakeholder; supports growth and development in diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching License in K-12 School Counseling or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of school counseling principles, practices and procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and administration
- Demonstrated experience with at-risk students
Preferred Qualification:
- Background in Career Technical Education (CTE)
- Background in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Restorative Practices and Principles
